Hey, Nice flippin boat, I'm jealous. This is not a critique but merely a suggestion. If it were me and while the engines are out I would super clean and repaint the engine compartment. I think it would really set off the look of those new engines. Looking forward to new "Yacht" vids. By the way, does it have a bilge pump? I didnt see any mention of that.

Yup those are fins for a water pump. Heat and/or age will do that.

What is Texas speed using for the rotating assembly? H-beams? What type of piston? Etc. And how are they deciding on ring sizes? I’ve heard ring sizing might be a bit different because of how the engine is run (constant RPM for long periods rather than a street car) Does the intake and I’m assuming port injection need to have specific coastguard approval? For fire regs? I’m interested in building a ford 460 stroker kit for 532cu in. Still about a square engine. Callies crank and h-beam rods and diamond pistons. Curious what Texas speed is using to handle the abuse of a marine application. Originally was considering Kaase p51 heads but probably just go with ported cast iron heads. No need for a China rail for intake manifold. Worried about overall height. Was considering Holley sniper efi but not sure how much I could tune it. No experience with it yet. Early stages. Looking for 650+ hp but will last 2000hr like a off the shelf marine gas.

I own a similar riva, (superamerica) with the same engine setup, im interested in the parts you might have from the engines you took out. Btw the “ worthless” elbow you are using for the repowering. Costs about 6000eur as a used spare part. Gas will work, but take in account the vt903 puts out approx 1000nm of torque at the flywheel, available at really low rpms. I upgraded our engines with vta660m parts as found in mil applications. It has no problem with 3200 rpm. Resulting in over 33 knots speed. Good luck with your adventure. Dont forget riva are designer boats!

Aluminum exhaust spacer in between two cast iron manifolds is NOT GOOD! You need an O2 spacer made also of cast iron.

cant you rotate the alternator so the stuff on the bottom are at the top .....

Maybe already stated somewhere, need to get the paint off the zinc anodes - it prohibits the proper function (sacrificial anode!) Love this show and all the work you are putting into this rebuild - gonna be awesome!

my opinion - just keep the diesel engines. wait the time to source the parts then rebuild both engines while the boat is out of the water. It's also a great opportunity to learn more about the difference between car and boat engines/builds. use the gas engines for other car projects. I get that this is a build channel and doing out of the ordinary builds is somewhat the point and a crowd puller, but this time it's just not going to be worth it in a lot of ways. don't get me wrong it's gonna be fun to watch either way. good luck.

There is one thing that i am afraid, that is the serpentine belt is not going to survive the 2 alternators. in a professional build they use a separate belt for the "domestic" alternator in this case the 24V one. apart from that locks good to me, it has every possibility to be a fun boat to spend quality time whit the family.

Before u put any engine inside clean and paint everything inside and set water pumps that work with floaty thing and put also a pump that you with a button is enabled for safety reasons I’m telling it because of a bad situation that I have been 🙏🏾🙏🏾

This is the train wreck I can't stop watching. I've had a 100 ton USCG license for 45 years and owned several large diesel boats.... I just can't get over the amount of time, money and talent that is being wasted on this project. Cheaper would have been to just take a used Cat 966 frontend loader and put the LS in it.... see how that works! Time and effort saved!

Now that you've converted from diesel to gas, everything in that engine room needs to be ignition protected. Examples, alternator, starter, fuel pump, all AC and DC electrical devices in that engine room. You don't want gas fumes ignited by any of those non-ignition protected devices! Check the USCG regs and ABYC recommendations. Good luck.

Put a filter on the air line to your plasma torch and you'll get a much cleaner cut. Like your fancy spray paint machine, any debris, especially water and / or oil, in the air line will make for less than desirable results.

In the yacht world we would normally install an aqualift & separator into the exhaust system which keeps the height/noise levels to safe limits!

I question the longevity of running these motors at 70-100 tilt for long travel. The fuel cost is going to be absolutely nutty.

YOUR WELDS WITH NO BACK PURGE WELDING WILL LOOK LIKE CRYSTALLINE SUGAR, AND WILL NOT BE RUST RESISTANT, IT WILL BE EXTREMELY POROUS AND A SPOT FOR CORROSION TO EAT AWAY AT THE METAL MORE QUICKLY THAN JUST THE 304. ON A SECOND NOTE, 304 IS USELESS IN THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT, YOU NEED MINIMUM 316L. LASTLY, I BELIEVE THAT THE 1/16" WALL TUBING YOU HAVE CHOSEN IS FAR TOO THIN FOR THE ABUSE THAT A BOAT SMACKING WAVES REPEATEDLY WILL SEE OVER ITS LIFE SPAN. IF A WATER JACKETED EXHAUST PIPE WERE TO CRACK OPEN YOUD BE PUMPING THE JACKETED WATER INTO YOUR BOATS HULL AT A VERY HIGH RATE. PLEASE SIMPLY LOOK AT THE PART YOU'RE REPLACING AND THINK TO YOURSELF, WAS THERE A REASON THEY USED SUCH A THICK MATERIAL IN THE FIRST PLACE. SECOND GET A SECOND REGULATOR, AND SOME TIN FOIL AND LEARN TO BACK PURGE YOUR STAINLESS FOR WELDING, ITS REALLY SIMPLE STEPS YOU FOLLOW, AND COST YOU A FEW DOLLARS, LITERALLY ALL YOU NEED IS AN EXTRA REGULATOR AND ARGON TANK.... NO EXCUSE NOT TO BACK PURGE STAINLESS. PERIOD. FOOD FOR THOUGHT. IF YOU SINK THIS BOAT BECAUSE OF A FRAGILE PART YOU BUILT INCOMPETENTLY, THIS VIDEO WILL BE ALL THE EVIDENCE YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY NEEDS TO DENY YOUR CLAIM.
